Educational Assistance
Every year we sponsor the education of approximately 100 children of the differently-abled throughout Tamil Nadu. This includes paying their school fees, as well as providing them with essential items such as uniforms and stationary.
To remain sponsored, the children need to get good grades.
In order to ensure that only the most hard-working students receive our support, each sponsored child must score 60% or more in their half-yearly and final exams.
To monitor this we ask the children to come in with their parents, after each exam, to discuss their performance; if the child has problems with certain subjects, we pay for extra tuitions - usually Rs. 100/- per month.
Further help is available through the Mentorship Programme.
Aside from their academic progress we also use our Mentorship Programme to spot and solve other issues troubling the children.
We now sponsor higher education as well.
A college education costs much more than a school education (a 4.5-year course at the M. A. Chidambaram College of Nursing costs Rs. 55,000/- per year). Added to this, the students need to be that much more motivated and hard working. Yet, we aim to provide a college education for those students determined enough to put in the required effort.
