Doctors’ Day

July 1

World Doctors’ day is a chance to show gratitude to the medical fraternity, and we at Udhavum Ullangal specially acknowledge the work of doctors who have devoted their lives to helping the poor and disadvantaged.

The Dr. K.S. Sanjivi Awards

Dr. K.S. Sanjivi was one of the pioneers of community health in Chennai, and founder of the Voluntary Health Services, Taramani. Every year, awards are presented in his name, honouring doctors and institutions that exemplify his ideals of dedication to the practice of medicine.

Recognizing and motivating doctors with ‘heart’

The awards are organized by Udhavum Ullangal along with CIOSA (Confederation of Indian Organizations for Service and Advocacy). They…

  • Recognize and reward doctors offering quality, affordable treatment for the poor
  • Motivate young doctors to focus on service rather than monetary gain
  • Create a network of such doctors with ‘heart,’ dedicated to helping the poor and needy

So far 42 doctors and 9 institutions have been honoured with this award.
