Ijaz, 6, needs a cochlear implant

Ijaz needs your financial assistance now

Ijaz Ahmed, a 6-year old boy from Tirunelveli needs an immediate cochlear implant surgery to ensure highest chances of getting hearing ability.

Ijaz needs Rs. 3 lakhs that his family does not have.

Here is the reason Ijaz needs financial assistance. Ijaz is son of  Zakir Hussain, who hails from Melappalayam, Tirunelveli. The family needs Rs. 6.6 lakhs to pay for the surgery of Ijaz, who is hearing and speech impaired. With great effort, the parents have mobilised Rs. 3.5 lakhs. 

Ijaz's father used to run a small bakery and lost all his savings in an effort to get treatment for Ijaz's condition. Now, Zakir Hussain is reduced to running a petty shop. The family includes Ijaz's mother, 85-year old grandmother and 2 sisters. 

Tests show Ijaz can talk and hear, if helped in time

After hearing about us, Zakir Hussain sent us a detailed letter, supported by Ijaz's medical reports, issued by a famous Chennai-based hospital, KKR ENT Hospital & Research Institute on PH Road, Kilpauk. Zakir Hussain was referred to this hospital by Dr. Arumugam of Nagercoil. Tests were performed on December 24, 2010. These tests confirm that Ijaz can talk well but his speech has not developed because of the hearing impairment. The doctors recommended a cochlear implant surgery at the earliest. 

A surgery that is already late

The surgery was fixed for April 24 but could not be performed because Ijaz's father was not able to mobilize the full amount required.
